Arians not considering retirement despite health issues

While CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora has speculated that Bruce Arians is considering retirement due to multiple health issues during this tumultuous season, the Arizona Cardinals head coach is happy to keep his job.

After getting their fourth win of the season on Sunday, Arians dispelled any rumors that he could be calling it quits, saying La Canfora's report "couldn’t be anything further from the truth."

"(General manager Steve Keim) and I are talking a lot about, you know, what pieces do we need to start looking at, getting guys signed up for future contracts, and looking forward to finishing this year and damn sure coaching next year," Arians told Arizona Sports 98.7 FM on Monday.

Arians has been hospitalized twice this season - once in the preseason for stomach pains and once in Week 11 for chest pains. While Arians and his family are concerned for his health, the veteran coach brushed it off, knowing he's had stress problems throughout his career, as many coaches do.

"Everybody gets sick, really sick after the season because, your immune system is shot," said Arians. "Everybody, most coaches, will be sick as a dog. I’ve been sick every year for the last 30 years within two weeks after the season.

"I did an adrenal test last year. I was in acute adrenal failure after the season. That’s just coaching."
