Report: Bucs expected to host Cecil Shorts
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to host wide receiver Cecil Shorts for a free-agent visit, ESPN's Adam Caplan reports, citing a source.
Shorts hits the open market following final roster cutdowns over the weekend after spending the 2015 season and with the Houston Texans.
Though, adding him into the mix as Week 1 approaches will likely require some patience as he gets familiar with the offense, the six-year veteran could potentially be an important addition for Tampa Bay's passing game.
If signed, he'd presumably be poised for slot duties between an imposing tandem of outside threats in Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson.
Shorts is coming off a year in which he hauled in 42 receptions for 484 yards and two touchdowns despite being limited to 11 games as a result of injuries.
The most productive season of his four-year stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars came in 2012, where he finished the year with 55 receptions for 979 yards and seven touchdowns.
