Ex-NFL receiver Bess arrested after standoff with police
Former NFL wide receiver Davone Bess was arrested early Monday morning in Gilbert, Ariz., after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop and barricading himself inside his home, according to Danielle Quijada of the Arizona Republic.
Police say the incident with Bess first began around midnight. He initially barricaded himself in his car when located in his neighborhood before later running into his house and doing the same, according to authorities.
He was eventually brought into custody around 4:45 a.m. after police and a SWAT team obtained a warrant to enter his home.
Bess was held on suspicion of felony charges of endangerment, flight, and failure to stop for a police officer.
The 30-year-old played for six years in the NFL and last suited up for a game with the Cleveland Browns in 2013. He was also arrested early in 2014 after allegedly assaulting a police officer by spilling hot coffee on him.
