Josh Doctson

Position: WR
School: TCU
College Experience: Senior
Height: 6-2
Weight: 202 lbs.

NFL player comparison: Jordan Matthews

Matthews was a monster at Vanderbilt, graduating as the SEC's all-time leading receiver, and Doctson was equally dominant at TCU. Both are tall, lanky receivers with exceptional ability to high-point the ball and make catches on jump balls. Neither are likely to carry a team as the No. 1 option, but both are outstanding second options at the wideout position.

Draft Projection: Round 1 (top 25 overall)

Strengths

  • Incredibly productive pass-catcher with 25 touchdowns the past two seasons despite being the focal point of opposition defense.
  • Uses height and incredible leaping ability to high-point the ball well, thrives in jump ball situations.
  • Possesses very strong hands and performs exceptionally on catches in traffic.
  • Size and jump ball ability make him a lethal red-zone threat.
  • Utilizes deceptive speed shifts to create separation on vertical routes.

Weaknesses

  • Very lean frame and lack of experience against physical, press corners could hurt at the next level.
  • Played in a spread-style offense at TCU, in which the sets created lots of space.
  • The spread-style offense also limited the route tree Doctson ran in college.
  • Was rarely called upon for extensive blocking, will have to improve in that area at next level.
  • Missed the final three games of the season with a wrist injury, despite attempting to comeback.
