Boston Red Sox right-hander Pedro Martinez arguably made one of the most special relief appearances in the history of baseball on Oct. 11, 1999, when he shut down a powerful Cleveland Indians lineup in Game 5 of the ALDS while battling back and shoulder problems.
On Monday night, Martinez entered in relief one more time when he was called in to replace Stephen Colbert on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" after the host was yanked for shaking off jokes from the show's writers.
The 44-year-old Martinez strutted onto the main stage and promptly delivered a joke about Alex Rodriguez to crack up viewers.
