Arsenal's Mikel Arteta: This is the best team we've had 'for many, many years'
Mikel Arteta believes the current crop of Arsenal players is the best he has seen during his four years in North London.
The club captain joined the Gunners from Everton in 2011 and has seen a huge turnover of players during his time there. Now, after consecutive FA Cup wins, Arteta believes manager Arsene Wenger has put together a fine squad.
"This is the best group of players in terms of numbers and quality that we have had for many, many years," he told Sam Long of the Evening Standard.
The FA Cup win in 2014 marked the end of a nine-year trophy drought, and the midfielder has praised the mentality of Arsenal, along with the cohesion between the fans and the team after tough times.
"When you go through difficult moments together, that really helps to get where you want to get to afterwards. We haven’t broken in difficult moments and that is very important," the veteran said.
Arteta has made one appearance off the bench in Arsenal's first two Premier League games of the season, and will hope to make his first start of 2015-16 in a huge game against Liverpool on Monday.
