Report: Saints interested in moving down from No. 9 pick
The New Orleans Saints have made calls about potentially moving down slightly from the No. 9 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, sources told Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports.
The Saints would look to drop in the draft to acquire more picks, with plans to use the extra draft capital to trade back into the late first round and select a quarterback, Schultz adds.
New Orleans heads into 2025 with uncertainty under center. Starter Derek Carr's availability for the season is reportedly in question due to a shoulder injury. General manager Mickey Loomis didn't confirm the rumors Wednesday but said the team is seeking "clarity" on Carr's issue.
The Saints apparently brought in two quarterbacks for pre-draft visits this offseason, with Louisville's Tyler Shough and Texas' Quinn Ewers traveling to the facility.
New Orleans holds the No. 9 overall pick but won't be on the clock again until the No. 40 selection, which is the eighth pick of the second round.
