The Toronto Blue Jays hired DeMarlo Hale as their associate manager under John Schneider, the team announced Monday.

Hale returns to the Blue Jays after serving as their bench coach from 2013-18.

Hale joins a Blue Jays coaching staff that includes Schneider as manager, Don Mattingly as bench coach and offensive coordinator, and Pete Walker as pitching coach, among others.

The 62-year-old spent 2021-23 as the Cleveland Guardians' bench coach under Terry Francona. He managed the Guardians for the final 63 games of the 2021 campaign after Francona took a leave of absence due to health issues.
