Report: Michigan planning to practice before game vs. Ohio State
Michigan has been cleared for limited workouts, according to a school spokesman, and is reportedly set to practice Monday in preparation for Saturday's game against Ohio State, a source told ESPN's Tom VanHaaren. The tempo or nature of the practice is unknown.
The matchup between the Big Ten rivals was jeopardized due to COVID-19 issues in the Michigan program. The Wolverines paused football activities last week and were forced to cancel Saturday's game against Maryland due to an outbreak.
A final decision on the game against the Buckeyes hasn't been made and Monday's news doesn't guarantee Saturday's matchup will proceed as scheduled, VanHaaren adds.
A cancellation could have significant consequences for the Buckeyes. Ohio State has played five games thus far and won all five, but it needs to play six to qualify for the Big Ten championship game.
Big Ten athletic directors are looking at adjusting the six-game eligibility rule if the Buckeyes cannot meet the requirement.
Ohio State is fourth in the CFP rankings and winning the Big Ten title would likely solidify the program's spot in the playoff.
