Report: Mike Minor agrees to 2-year deal with Royals

Mike Minor is returning to Kansas City.

The former All-Star left-hander agreed to terms with the Royals, sources told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

The deal is a two-year contract, sources told Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. The financial terms of the agreement - which is pending a physical - are unknown.

Minor split last season between the Texas Rangers and Oakland Athletics. After joining Oakland at the trade deadline, he posted a 5.48 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with 27 strikeouts, seven walks, and a complete-game shutout over 21 1/3 innings. Despite the rough regular season, Minor was excellent in the playoffs for the Athletics out of the bullpen and didn't allow a run in three relief appearances.

The 32-year-old pitched for the Royals in 2017, when he posted a career-best 2.55 ERA with 88 strikeouts and six saves as one of the team's most important relievers. Following that season, Minor signed with Texas and resumed his career as a starting pitcher.
