Report: Blue Jays, Mets among 4 teams interested in Odorizzi
Jake Odorizzi is quickly drawing his fair share of suitors in the early stages of free agency.
The New York Mets, San Francisco Giants, and Toronto Blue Jays all expressed interest in signing the right-hander, ESPN's Buster Olney reported Sunday.
Additionally, the Minnesota Twins are interested in re-signing Odorizzi, according to Olney. He spent the last three seasons in Minnesota.
The 30-year-old was a free agent last winter but returned to the Twins after he accepted their qualifying offer. While Minnesota expected big things of him, Odorizzi put up a career-worst 6.59 ERA over just four starts and didn't pitch in the playoffs. He also struggled to stay healthy all summer and missed time due to an intercostal strain - a chest contusion caused by a 103-mph line drive, and a blister.
In 2019, his most recent full season, a healthy Odorizzi earned his first career All-Star berth and struck out a career-best 10.1 batters per nine innings over 30 starts.
