Los Angeles City Council is expected to vote on a resolution that asks Major League Baseball to recall the World Series trophies won by the Houston Astros in 2017 and the Boston Red Sox in 2018 and award them both to the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to Eric Spillman of KTLA 5 News.

Both the 2017 Astros and the 2018 Red Sox are tied to the sign-stealing scandal that has rocked the baseball world this offseason. The Dodgers lost to the Astros in the 2017 World Series and then fell to the Red Sox in the 2018 Fall Classic.

Los Angeles Councilman Gil Cedillo expects the vote to be approved. He added that the Dodgers did not request the resolution.

"This is an equity and justice thing," Cedillo said. "Who was the best team in 2017? Who was the best team in 2018? It was the Dodgers. They got beat by teams that were cheating."

After being implicated in the sign-stealing scandal, the Astros fired manager AJ Hinch and general manager Jeff Luhnow. The team was also stripped of draft picks and fined $5 million.

The Red Sox are currently under league investigation for their role in the scandal. The team recently parted ways with manager Alex Cora due to his involvement with the Astros in 2017. Cora then managed the Red Sox in 2018 and '19.
