Raptors agree to 2-year, $7.5M deal with Stanley Johnson
The Toronto Raptors agreed to a two-year contract worth $7.5 million with free-agent forward Stanley Johnson, his agent Nima Namakian confirmed to The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The deal contains a player option in the second season.
Johnson, 23, is coming off his fourth year in the league, splitting time in 2018-19 between the Detroit Pistons and New Orleans Pelicans. He averaged a combined 6.9 points and 3.3 rebounds in 66 games with both teams last season.
Though he has yet to average double digits in scoring, he still boasts potential as an above-average defender for the defending NBA champions. The Raptors will likely have ample playing time available on the wing after losing both Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green to free agency.
The Pistons selected Johnson with the eighth overall pick in 2015. He became a free agent this summer after the Pelicans opted not to extend him a qualifying offer.
