The Philadelphia 76ers acquired small forward James Ennis from the Houston Rockets for swap rights to a 2021 second-round draft pick on Thursday.
The 28-year-old provides Philadelphia with another outside shooter. The Sixers are currently tied for 14th in the NBA for 3-pointers made with 11.4 per contest.
Following the deal, Houston is $2.4 million above the tax threshold, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks, after starting the season with a projected tax bill of $14.6 million. The Rockets also create a $1.6-million trade exception in the deal, notes Marks.
Ennis is averaging 7.4 points and 2.9 rebounds on 49 percent shooting through 40 games this season.
