Multiple teams are hoping Wesley Matthews reaches the buyout market as the New York Knicks explore the trade market for the veteran guard prior to Thursday's 3 p.m. deadline, sources told Marc Stein of The New York Times.
The Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers, and Golden State Warriors are reportedly among the clubs interested in pursuing Matthews on the buyout market.
The 32-year-old's $18.6-million salary could be an obstacle for any potential deal and increases the possibility of a buyout.
Matthews is averaging 12.9 points per contest on 41.1 percent shooting. He's a career 38.3 percent shooter from 3-point range and could provide contending teams with an outside-shooting presence.
