Puel said he is fine but feels "terribly sad" in the wake of the incident that involved a helicopter that belonged to Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who has yet to be accounted for.
"It's a tragedy for the club," Puel told Jacques Vendroux of Radio France, as translated by Alex Martin of the Daily Mail. "I think very strongly about the victims and their families.
"I wanted to reassure everyone who cares about me, I'm terribly sad but I'm fine."
Claire Bloomfield of Reuters reports that a source close to the club confirmed that Srivaddhanaprabha was among the passengers on the helicopter, along with his two daughters, two pilots, and another unidentified person.
There has yet to be any confirmation of whether anyone survived the crash.
Since news broke, a memorial has been established outside the King Power Stadium where numerous fans have paid their respects by leaving flowers and football memorabilia.
The area to leave football memorabilia and flowers is almost full and it may need to be extended.
