Phillies top prospect Sixto Sanchez hits DL with elbow inflammation
The Philadelphia Phillies, struggling through a three-game losing streak, haven't had a lot to boast about recently, and some bad news Saturday added salt to their wounds.
Top Phillies prospect Sixto Sanchez will miss an extended period of time with right elbow inflammation after he underwent an MRI earlier this week, MLB.com's Todd Zolecki reports.
Sanchez will go on the disabled list and be re-evaluated in a couple of weeks.
The Phillies claim there's no cause for concern about the elbow of 19-year-old Dominican right-hander, according to Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Sanchez is ranked the No. 23 prospect in all of baseball by MLB Pipeline, which writes that he "might turn out to be the greatest international signing bonus bargain in Phillies history," after the youngster signed for just $35,000 in 2015.
