World Cup favourite Brazil is facing a predicament at left-back.

Days after Filipe Luis was ruled out of World Cup contention after breaking his leg during a Europa League victory over Lokomotiv Moscow, the Brazilian football federation announced that Alex Sandro has picked up a thigh injury.

Brazil confirmed Tuesday that the Juventus full-back suffered the problem during the Canarinho's first Moscow-based training session of the international window, and will not participate in the upcoming friendlies against Russia and Germany.

Shakhtar Donetsk's Ismaily has been called up in Sandro's stead and will join Tite's 25-man squad as one of nine defenders. The 28-year-old has no prior experience of international football at any level, but becomes the third Shakhtar player in Tite's current set-up alongside Manchester City target Fred and forward Taison.

There has been no word yet from Brazil on the severity of Sandro's injury, nor has Juventus confirmed the status of its first-choice left-back. The Scudetto holder hosts Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final on April 3.
