"The Freak" is about to make his return to the majors on a million-dollar ticket.

Two-time Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum has reportedly reached an agreement on a one-year contract with the Texas Rangers that will pay him $1 million, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News.

The deal also contains incentives, reports Grant. Completion of the agreement is pending a physical.

Word broke earlier Tuesday that Lincecum was expected to join the Rangers after several teams had expressed interest. It's likely he'll work out of the bullpen in Texas, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports, and he might compete for the team's vacant closer role - a spot he's never occupied during his 10-year career.

Lincecum will likely battle the likes of Alex Claudio, Keone Kela, and Jake Diekman for ninth-inning duties. Matt Bush, who was one of the Rangers' most effective relievers in 2017, is being converted to a starter.

The 33-year-old Lincecum, a four-time All-Star and three-time World Series champion with the San Francisco Giants, won consecutive NL Cy Young Awards in 2009 and 2010 but has struggled with his effectiveness over the last five-plus seasons.

His last big-league appearances came in 2016 with the Los Angeles Angels, when he put up a 9.16 ERA in just 38 1/3 innings pitched.
