England Under-21 international Jack Harrison has joined Middlesbrough on loan after completing a move from New York City FC to the MLS outfit's parent club, Manchester City.

Middlesbrough announced the recruitment of the 21-year-old winger with a statement on its website Tuesday, adding that Harrison makes the Riverside Stadium switch until the summer after putting pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal with City.

"I’ll forever be grateful to everyone at New York City FC for having faith in me and trading up for me in the 2016 MLS Draft. NYCFC has felt like home from the moment I arrived and has given me some of the best experiences of my life," Harrison told NYCFC.com.

Harrison, who had earlier in the winter window reportedly drawn interest from Stoke City, scored 14 goals in 59 appearances for NYCFC after being selected first overall in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft by the Chicago Fire, who promptly traded the player to New York for the No. 4 pick and allocation money.

A right-sided winger who fancies deft dribbling and a decent cross, Harrison spent time in Liverpool's academy before moving to Manchester United's youth setup. From there, the Stoke-on-Trent-born youth international moved to the U.S. where he was named Gatorade Player of the Year in 2015.
