Stoke City is looking to add another English talent to its ranks, but the club's reaching across the pond to do so by making an official inquiry about the services of New York City FC standout Jack Harrison, sources told ESPN FC's Peter O'Rourke.

Stoke reportedly made a $4.5-million (£3.25M) offer for the right-winger, according to Ives Galarcep of Goal.com, and further incentives could boost that fee to $6 million (£4.3M). NYCFC previously rejected a $3-million (£2.2M) offer from the Potters, according to Galarcep.

A Manchester United academy product, Harrison was drafted first overall by the Chicago Fire and then immediately traded to NYCFC in their inaugural 2016 campaign. He went on to make 59 appearances, scoring 14 goals and recording 13 assists. The 21-year-old attracted the attention of the England Under-21 team in 2017, too.

"It would be a dream to play (in the Premier League) but my focus is here right now," Harrison told ESPN FC, as quoted by Jeff Carlisle. "I'm a New York City player right now, nothing is official, so we'll just have to see what happens."

Harrison was born in Stoke-on-Trent, making a potential move to Stoke City a homecoming affair. Currently 17th in the Premier League, the club is in the midst of a relegation battle, and manager Paul Lambert took over from Mark Hughes in January.
