Oregon will promote offensive coordinator Mario Cristobal to head coach, a source told Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports.

Numerous Oregon players voiced their support for the 47-year-old Cristobal following Willie Taggart's departure to Florida State, but many outsiders speculated the Ducks would go for a splashier hire - perhaps former Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin.

Cristobal will receive the elevated job title after spending just one season in Eugene. He joined Taggart's staff ahead of the 2017 campaign on the heels of a four-year stint as the offensive line coach at Alabama. Cristobal previously served as a head coach at Florida International, where he went 27-47 overall, reaching a bowl game in two of his last three years.

With the Oregon job now reportedly filled, there are no Power 5 head coaching vacancies remaining.
