Drummond: Embiid can talk to me 'when he can play a whole season'

The war of words between rival Eastern Conference centers Andre Drummond and Joel Embiid continues unabated.

It began with the first meeting between the two teams this season, when Embiid responded to Drummond's trash talk by lighting him up for 30 points, then landing another jab after the game by saying Drummond "plays no defense."

Drummond responded by suggesting he'd have his revenge when the teams met again on Dec. 2.

Well, Dec. 2 has arrived, Embiid and Drummond are both in the midst of All-Star-caliber seasons while carrying their long-suffering teams to relevance, and the level of trash talk remains high.

After Embiid called out his lack of shooting ability earlier Saturday, Drummond hit back at Embiid for his lack of durability. The injury-prone Sixers star has played just 49 games since being drafted in 2014, and still isn't playing both ends of back-to-backs.

"I mean you can't really have a conversation with a man who can't play a back-to-back," Drummond told Johnny Kane of FOX Sports Detroit. "I've been playing for six years and I've missed maybe four, five games. So when he can play a whole season without taking a rest, he can come talk to me."

Indeed, Drummond has been one of the NBA's most durable players since he entered the league, and he's played no fewer than 81 games in any of the past four seasons. But, Embiid will be on the floor Saturday night, and Drummond will have to deal with him. Both guys will have to put their money where their mouths are.
