Report: Former Red Sox manager Farrell interviews with Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies are on the lookout for a new manager, and it appears their search has led them to a recently unemployed skipper.
Former Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell is the latest candidate to meet with the Phillies, reports MLB.com's Todd Zolecki.
Philadelphia has been without a manager since last season's skipper, Pete Mackanin, was told he would not return. Mackanin moved into the role of special assistant to general manager Matt Klentak. The club is reportedly "zeroing in" on Dusty Wathan, who managed its Triple-A affiliate in 2017.
Farrell was told he would not be back as Red Sox manager in early October after the team was eliminated in the American League Division Series for a second consecutive season.
The 55-year-old Farrell has seven years of experience as a big-league manager - two with the Toronto Blue Jays and five with the Red Sox - over which he amassed a 586-548 record, including a World Series win in 2013.
