Report: Fournette not expected to play vs. Colts

Reinhold Matay / USA TODAY Sports

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette is not expected to play Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts due to an ankle injury, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Fournette did not practice this week as he nursed his sprained ankle suffered against the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday. He had hoped to play, but conceded that the decision would be up to coaches.

Chris Ivory is expected to take over the starting role against the Colts.

The rookie runner rushed for 596 yards through six games, second most in the NFL. The Jaguars have a bye in Week 8, which should give Fournette ample time to recover.
