Tottenham has bolstered its 'keeper corps, signing Paulo Gazzaniga from Southampton.

The north London lot announced the arrival Wednesday, adding that Gazzaniga joins the club on five-year deal through June 2022 for an undisclosed fee.

In advance of the completion of Davinson Sanchez's move to the English capital pending a successful medical, Gazzaniga becomes Tottenham's first official signing of the summer transfer period.

At first glance, the 25-year-old Argentine appears set to assume third-choice duties behind Hugo Lloris and Michael Vorm after Pau Lopez returned to Espanyol after his one-year loan expired in June.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino will be familiar with Gazzaniga from their time together at St. Mary's, where the Valencia academy product made 23 appearances before spending last season on loan at Rayo Vallecano. Both Pochettino and Gazzaniga are from Murphy, Argentina, a town of roughly 3,500 people.
