Wiggins cuts ties with agency after negotiating max extension

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins has terminated his relationship with agent Bill Duffy and BDA Sports, Duffy told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

While it is not unheard of for players to fire agents, the move makes it unclear when Wiggins will actually sign the five-year, $148-million max extension Duffy had just negotiated with the Timberwolves.

"We are disappointed that Andrew made this decision, especially after a three-year partnership where we worked closely with Andrew and his entire family," Duffy told Wojnarowski.

While a player can fire his agent at any time, the National Basketball Players Association has guidelines that compensate agents for contracts negotiated by them. Agents can collect as much as four percent commission on NBA contracts.
