Everton is finally set to secure the services of Swansea City set-piece savant Gylfi Sigurdsson, but the Icelandic international won't come cheap.

The Toffees will table a massive £45 million for the 27-year-old midfielder, reports the Telegraph's John Percy, as one of the transfer window's most drawn-out sagas comes to fruition at last.

Sigurdsson, who'll reportedly have a medical Wednesday, marks yet another high-profile signing in a summer of flux at Goodison Park.

The Merseyside lot has already spent roughly £90 million on Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen, Henry Onyekuru, and Sandro Ramirez, while Cuco Martina and Wayne Rooney joined on free transfers.

After months of speculation linking Sigurdsson with a move to Everton, Swansea manager Paul Clement and his Toffees counterpart Ronald Koeman confirmed last week that discussions were progressing, though the south Wales side initially rejected two bids for the former Tottenham player.

"The deal needs to be the best for all parties involved; we have got a very, very important season coming up," Clement offered. It appears as if the Swans boss got his wish.
