St. Louis' famous "Rally Squirrel" finally has a companion.
A small kitten stormed the Busch Stadium field and interrupted Wednesday's contest between the Cardinals and Kansas City Royals in the sixth inning.
The feisty feline calmly jogged into the outfield and didn't seem at all bothered by the presence of Kansas City's Lorenzo Cain before a grounds crew member intercepted its journey. Rather than picking it up by the scruff of its neck, though, the intrepid employee tried to carry the kitty under his arm - and paid for it with several bites to the hand from an unhappy cat.

Of course, any pain the Cardinals' grounds crew worker suffered at the hand of said kitty went away just one pitch after the delay, when the Cardinals' new "Rally Cat" worked its magic and Yadier Molina launched a grand slam to give the home side an 8-5 lead.

"I'm not a cat person, but I sure liked that one," Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said postgame, according to FOX Sports Midwest.
