Galatasaray president: 'We are working on a deal' for Barcelona's Turan

Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek is confident that an agreement can be reached for the signing of Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan.

Amid an injury-stricken campaign, Turan made just 14 Barcelona appearances last season, and with incoming gaffer Ernesto Valverde's opinion of the Turkish international unknown, Galatasaray is hoping to secure a return for the player who joined its youth set-up in 2000.

During the pre-season, Valverde has opted for younger players over Turan, and despite his agent's claims that the 30-year-old is not considering an exit, the 97-time capped international may not have a choice.

"Arda is a Galatasaray fan. He loves the club and he will serve this club again. The only option he has to play in Turkey is here and we want Arda to retire at Galatasaray," Ozbek told reporters, courtesy of AS.

"We are working on a deal to arrange his transfer."

Reports suggest that Barcelona is not interested in loaning Turan, though the Catalan club appears resigned to losing the player for less than the €34-million fee that was paid to Atletico Madrid in 2015.
