Report: Barcelona joins Arsenal in race for Thomas Lemar

Reuters

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has had his eye on Monaco winger Thomas Lemar all summer, but he might face some stiff competition, as Barcelona is ready to rival the Gunners for the 21-year-old, reports Sky Sports.

The Blaugrana are in need of options on the left wing after Neymar forced his exit to Paris Saint-Germain, and while the club has been linked with the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho, Sky Sports reports the team could pip Arsenal to Lemar despite Monaco's insistence he will not be sold.

Arsenal is believed to have had a £30-million offer rejected in July, but could see an improved bid accepted, as the French club has been linked with Lyon winger Rachid Ghezzal. However, the Algerian operates on the right flank, and would thus replace Bernardo Silva's role after his move to Manchester City.
