Josh Onomah joined Aston Villa on a season-long loan Friday, but was given the parting gift of a new four-year Tottenham Hotspur contract on his way out.

The 20-year-old is one of many highly rated players to emerge from the Spurs academy in recent years, and now looks to boost his first-team experience with a jaunt in Birmingham.

"I can't wait to get started," he told Villa's website. "This is a huge football club and I want to really make my mark here and prove to be a player the manager can rely on.

"I know that promotion is the aim and I am here to help us achieve that."

The midfielder will add some welcome youthful exuberance to Steve Bruce's outfield after a transfer window that has predominantly seen experienced names arrive at Villa Park. He'll also help tend to the loss of Jack Grealish for around three months to a kidney issue.
