Fernando will join the new Brazilian contingent at Galatasaray after signing from Manchester City for €5,250,000 on Friday, with €900,000 in bonuses.

Compatriots Mariano and Maicon, the latter of whom Fernando played with at FC Porto, have already joined Igor Tudor's ranks in Istanbul this summer.

The 30-year-old defensive midfielder signed a three-year contract in the European side of Turkey's most populous city.

"It's been a pleasure to play for Manchester City," Fernando said in a statement issued by the English club. "(City) has looked after me incredibly well throughout my time here and I have enjoyed the challenge of playing for a top team in probably the world's toughest league.

"The League Cup success of 2016 was a highlight for me and something I will never forget."

Fernando signed for City in 2014 for around £12 million, but was never able to establish himself as a key part of the first team as he played backup behind Fernandinho and Yaya Toure. His greatest league involvement came in 22 starts in his debut English campaign, but he was a peripheral figure last term and was left at home as City embarked on its pre-season tour of the United States.

City should be recouping some of its exorbitant summer spend before the transfer window closes on Aug. 31. Samir Nasri, Wilfried Bony, Eliaquim Mangala, and Fabian Delph could all be sent packing in the coming weeks.
