Everybody's congratulating Adrian Beltre in the Metroplex.

On Sunday afternoon, Beltre became just the 31st player ever to record 3,000 base hits with a double off Baltimore's Wade Miley that's already prompted many tributes to come his way inside Globe Life Park. But perhaps the coolest of all the gifts Beltre will receive came from down the road in Fort Worth.

The Fort Worth Zoo announced Sunday that it's honoring the 38-year-old's accomplishment by naming a newborn male giraffe calf Beltre.

Beltre was one of two reticulated giraffe calves who are half-brothers that were born at the zoo eight days apart in June.

According to the Zoo's website, one calf was born into the world standing six feet tall and weighing 185 pounds; the younger one was 5-foot-11, 150 pounds at birth. For comparison, the 38-year-old human named Adrian Beltre is listed by the Rangers as 5-foot-11 and 220 pounds.

Of all the animals to name in Adrian's honor, a giraffe was probably the best choice, since Beltre the giraffe is expected to grow to 18 feet tall as an adult - which means no one can ever touch this Beltre's head even if they tried.
