First, Phil Foden stole the headlines as a talent who could soon break through the Manchester City ranks after a sparkling performance against archrival United. Then, in Wednesday's 4-1 International Champions Cup win over Real Madrid, Brahim Diaz showed off his credentials.

Diaz, 17, was often shunted out to the flank as Foden took his preferred No. 10 slot for City's youth ranks in the previous campaign. The promising Spaniard boosted his chances of journeying down the seldom-trodden route from City's academy and into the first team, however, by pocketing a beauty against Los Blancos in Los Angeles.

Diaz's effort followed earlier second-half tallies from Nicolas Otamendi, Raheem Sterling, and John Stones. Red-topped playmaker Kevin De Bruyne weighed in with three assists, and Danilo was given a non-competitive debut against his old club in the absence of Benjamin Mendy through injury.

Real Madrid's 19-year-old prospect Oscar Rodriguez scored a splendid consolation in the closing moments:

City next faces Tottenham Hotspur in Nashville in Saturday's concluding tie of its U.S. tour, while Real Madrid meets bitter foe Barcelona in Miami later that day.
