Spalletti: Manchester United target Perisic can leave if price is right

Inter boss Luciano Spalletti says Manchester United transfer target Ivan Perisic can leave this summer if the Red Devils meet the valuation of the Croatian winger.

Perisic has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, though the Lancashire lot has reportedly come up short in its bid for the 28-year-old, and the player has joined his teammates for pre-season training.

Spalletti said he'd prefer that Perisic stay with the club, but the matter is with Inter's brass, not the former Roma manager who swapped Serie A sides in the summer.

"He is a fantastic player and if his future is totally up to me, I will definitely keep him," Spalletti told a news conference this weekend, according to ESPN FC.

"Perisic is an important player for this team and Inter have ambitious objectives. However, if an offer comes and the club are satisfied with the money, which will be used to invest in and strengthen the team, he could leave."

In football, money talks, and Spalletti admitted it will be a challenge to keep Perisic should United meet Inter's reported £48-million valuation.

"From my point of view, it's very simple: Ivan's an important player for me," Spalletti said. "After that you have to ask him how he's dealing with the interest from Manchester United."
