Alvaro Morata is swapping the Spanish capital for its English equivalent, joining Chelsea on a five-year deal from Real Madrid.

The signing, which became official Friday, is worth a club-record £60 million, BBC reports.

The Premier League holder announced the high-profile move with a statement on its website, adding that Morata will join Antonio Conte's squad for its pre-season tour of Asia.

Morata, 24, who's trading one league winner for another, will boost the Blues' chances of repeating with a third Premier League title in four tries. The 20-time capped Spain international arrives at the right time, as Diego Costa's mercurial Chelsea tenure nears its end.

A versatile striker equally as efficient at poaching goals as link-up play, Morata solves Chelsea's biggest off-season requirement. And for a player who has enjoyed spells with continental behemoths like Real and Juventus, a move to England is a natural progression.

"I am so happy to be here. It’s an incredible emotion to be part of this big club. I am looking to work hard, score as many goals as I can, and to win as many trophies as possible," Morata said.

Morata becomes Chelsea's third marquee summer signing, joining Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko at the west London lot ahead of its first match of the upcoming campaign, a visit from Burnley on Aug. 12.
