Jordi Amat will spend the 2017-18 season on loan at Real Betis after becoming a peripheral member of the Swansea City first team.

The Spanish centre-back was asked to step up following the sale of Ashley Williams last summer, but after the turn of the year made just two substitute appearances across all competitions - a change of fate that coincided with Paul Clement's appointment as manager.

Amat, 25, was signed from Espanyol by Michael Laudrup in 2013 and amassed 72 appearances before being sent to Seville on Friday in a temporary spell. He's a proficient defender with his feet, yet lacked the aerial presence to sufficiently compete with the hulking forwards that still populate the Premier League.

Real Betis finished the 2016-17 season in 15th place of La Liga.
