Huddersfield Town is putting its fellow Premier League newcomers to shame this summer after making Scott Malone the club's ninth official signing of the transfer window.

Fulham requested that the fee remains undisclosed, with the 26-year-old signing a three-year contract at John Smith's Stadium.

Malone, who kept the highly rated Ryan Sessegnon's chances at left-back limited at Fulham last term, was named in the Championship's Team of the Season as the Cottagers reached the play-offs in 2016-17.

"Scott is a good physical presence and is a very capable defender, plus he adds a lot going forward," said manager David Wagner. "He shows good football intelligence to time his forward runs and can set up goals for teammates and scoring them himself.

"We already have a very good left-back in Chris Lowe and a real young talent in Tareiq Holmes-Dennis, but as we enter our first Premier League season it is so important to have competition and the ability to rotate our side, as we did so successfully last season."

Malone follows Elias Kachunga - whose loan from Ingolstadt turned permanent at the end of last season - Jonas Lossl, Laurent Depoitre, Aaron Mooy, Tom Ince, Kasey Palmer, Danny Williams, and Steve Mounie to West Yorkshire.

By comparison, other promoted outfits Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion have collectively picked up five players.

Malone, formerly of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Bournemouth, Millwall, and Cardiff City, will be in contention to make his debut in the Terriers' first match of the season at Crystal Palace on Aug. 12.
