Southampton confirmed Sunday the club has completed the sale of striker Jay Rodriguez to West Brom, sending the 27-year-old off to the West Midlands after five years at St. Mary's.

Rodriguez joins West Brom on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee believed to be about £12 million, according to BBC Sport. He finally joins West Brom after having been linked with Tony Pulis' side on a number of occasions in the past.

"After one or two 'near misses' I'm absolutely buzzing to be here," Rodriguez told the Baggies' official website of finally joining West Brom.

"The most important thing for any player is to be wanted - and Tony Pulis and Albion have made it clear just how much they have wanted me to join. That's fantastic for any footballer to hear.

"I'm genuinely delighted to be joining a club of Albion's stature. The team is full of top players and it's pretty clear that they are also a great set of lads."

The Saints explained that Rodriguez made the switch to "seek more regular first-team football" despite making 34 appearances last season. Rodriguez spent long stretches of the last five years battling injuries, but went on to score 32 goals in 126 matches for the Saints. In 2013-14, Rodriguez tallied a personal best 15 goals, but spent the next year recovering from a knee injury.

He is set to join his new teammates this week ahead of West Brom's eighth consecutive season in the Premier League.
