Cyle Larin, Will Johnson left off Canada's Gold Cup squad

As expected, Cyle Larin was left off Canada's 23-man squad for its upcoming Gold Cup adventure following his DUI arrest on June 15 - just under two days after he featured in his country's 2-1 friendly win over Curacao.

The strikeforce is thinned out further with Simeon Jackson and Tesho Akindele being left at home, while Larin's Orlando City teammate Will Johnson was also curiously left off the roster.

Octavio Zambrano has called on both youth and experience as Canada looks to advance into the knockout rounds of the Gold Cup for the first time since 2009. The Vancouver Whitecaps' Alphonso Davies is unsurprisingly the youngest member of the squad at 16, while his club teammate Marcel de Jong, 30, has the most experience in the tournament ahead of his fifth campaign.

Canada kicks off its Gold Cup quest against French Guyana in New Jersey on July 7, before rounding off its Group A commitments by meeting Costa Rica on July 11 and Honduras on July 14.

Here's Zambrano's 23-man squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Milan Borjan (MKS Korona Kielce); Maxime Crepeau (Montreal Impact); Jayson Leutwiler (Shrewsbury Town)

Defenders: Dejan Jakovic (New York Cosmos); Manjrekar James (Vasas Budapest); Adam Straith (FC Edmonton); Steven Vitoria (Lechia Gdansk); Samuel Adekugbe (Brighton Hove & Albion); Marcel de Jong (Vancouver Whitecaps)

Forwards: Lucas Cavallini (Penarol); Anthony Jackson-Hamel (Montreal Impact)
