The Phoenix Suns are making a push to land their point guard of the future.

Phoenix has had trade discussions with both the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics to move up in this week's draft and take Lonzo Ball, ESPN's Chad Ford reports. Phoenix currently owns the No. 4 pick.

Should the Suns manage to land Ball, it would give them a pass-first point guard to pair next to Devin Booker, giving Phoenix one of the top young backcourts in the Association.

The Lakers are reportedly "closer and closer" to taking Ball with the No. 2 pick, making a trade with Phoenix difficult.

Current starter Eric Bledsoe is coming off a strong season with the Suns, averaging 21.1 points, 6.3 assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.4 steals, but has just two years left on his contract entering next season.
