John Terry delivered a final speech to the Chelsea faithful as he lifted a fifth Premier League title at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and emotions ran high as the 22-year Blues veteran bid farewell to the club.

In a perfect example of Terry's leadership qualities, he started the speech by highlighting the work of his peers, calling youth coach Steve Holland to say a few words before he joins Gareth Southgate's England team. He then took the mic and delivered his last goodbye.

"Today is, without a doubt, one of the most difficult days of my life," Terry said, holding back tears. "I've been very fortunate to work with some unbelievable players and managers throughout my career. Not only the ones here today but some ex-managers and ex-players that are here today that I've shared some great occasions with and won some great trophies with. I'm so thankful for every single one of you. Thank you.

"I think we all have to thank this man up here as well: Mr. Roman Abramovich," Terry continued, pointing to the box where the Chelsea owner can always be found. The two shared the moment of cheer, with Terry thanking Abramovich's commitment to the club in its entirety, from its youth ranks to the senior squad.

"I'd like to thank my wife and my kids for supporting me in this amazing journey I've had," Terry said, before choking up and adding a touching, "I love you."

Terry then headed to the stands where he thanked the club's fans: "You've given me everything, from the age of 14 when I first signed for this football club. You've picked me up when I was down. You've sung my name when I've had bad games and disappointed you as well.

"You know what? Thank you will never, ever be enough, but I tell you what; I'm going to come back here one day and I'm going to be supporting this team and these players for years to come."

Terry finished off his speech by sharing a hug with manager Antonio Conte, thanking the Italian before kicking off a round of "Antonio! Antonio!" with the fans.

"Thank you everyone. I love you all."
