How Kaepernick's numbers stand up against the 22 QBs signed this offseason

Colin Kaepernick remains unsigned, but you knew that.

It has been 70 days since free agency opened and a total of 22 quarterbacks have been signed, none of them Kaepernick.

Over the past two-plus months, a litany of reasonings have been tossed around. Exorbitant contract demands. The desire to be a No. 1 quarterback. Backlash from his national-anthem protest. Eroding skills.

However, the fact remains Kaepernick is a 29-year-old quarterback with 58 starts to his credit, and appearances in two NFC title games and one Super Bowl.

Here are how his numbers stack up against the quarterbacks deemed worthy of a deal this offseason:

Kaepernick vs. Mike Glennon

Kaepernick, who began the year recovering from offseason surgeries, took the starting job from Blaine Gabbert after five games. He wasn't any more effective, as he steered the 49ers to just one win in 11 games, but he wasn't exactly blessed with the most talented supporting cast.

Glennon spent the year backing up Jameis Winston. However, two capable seasons as a starter in 2013 and 2014 earned him a three-year, $45-million contract.

Kaepernick vs. Josh McCown

Though McCown has played in eight more seasons than Kaepernick, the two pivots own comparable career stats. Kap has 10 more wins on his ledger and a better touchdown-to-interception ratio. Yet, McCown is touted as a steady-handed veteran while Kaepernick is viewed as a dual-threat quarterback. The Jets inked McCown to a one-year, $6-million deal.

Kaepernick vs. Brian Hoyer

Hoyer turned in an excellent season in his limited time on the field in 2016. As a result, he has supplanted Kaepernick as the starting quarterback of the 49ers. He also earned an annual salary of $6 million, over two seasons.

Kaepernick vs. EJ Manuel

Manuel, a career backup, was signed by the Raiders as insurance after the team lost Derek Carr to a broken leg late last year. He likely slots in as No. 3 on the depth chart, for $800,000.

Kaepernick vs. Garrett Gilbert

Though he was signed to a $465,000 contract, Gilbert - a 2014, sixth-round pick - will have to fight for a roster spot, as Kaepernick continues to do.

Kaepernick vs. Landry Jones

Ben Roethlisberger's primary backup for the past two seasons, Jones was brought back on a two-year, $4.4-million deal after he proved a competent stand in for when Big Ben is felled by injury.

Kaepernick vs. Kellen Clemens

Clemens is a career backup with 12 years of NFL service. At the age of 33, he was given a one-year, $1.08-million contract to back up the Chargers' Philip Rivers.

Kaepernick vs. Matt Cassel

Cassel has bounced around the league for 13 seasons. After spending one year as Marcus Mariota's primary backup, he was given $5.25 million to return to the Titans for two more years.

Kaepernick vs. Nick Foles

Foles' fall from grace was a precipitous one. After four seasons, he's been rendered a No. 2 quarterback. One deserving of an $11-million contract with the Eagles, however.

Kaepernick vs. Geno Smith

Smith flamed out with the Jets, yet the Giants elected to keep him in New York to back up Eli Manning. With his one-year, $1.2-million deal, the Giants announced Smith's baggage, and bad play, is less cumbersome than Kaepernick's.
