Most pitchers would probably hesitate to drop an F-bomb at an umpire after landing on the unfavorable end of a borderline call. Justin Verlander, the Detroit Tigers ace with a Cy Young and MVP award on his mantle, isn't most pitchers.
During Monday's series finale against the Boston Red Sox at Comerica Park, Verlander lost it when home-plate ump Dan Bellino didn't ring up Pablo Sandoval on a fastball that appeared to scrape the bottom of the strike zone, voicing his displeasure with some earmuffs-inducing language.
"Oh my god, let's fucking go," Verlander barked. "Gosh dammit."
Gosh dammit, indeed.
