MLB Power Rankings: Bellinger, Dodgers catch fire out of All-Star break

Participating in the Home Run Derby appears to have only made Cody Bellinger stronger.

The Los Angeles Dodgers' newest sensation made headlines Saturday when he became the first Dodgers rookie ever to hit for the cycle - doing so in just seven innings against Miami.

Bellinger's record-setting performance, along with the Dodgers' rise to the best mark in baseball, helped Los Angeles leapfrog the Houston Astros to the No. 1 spot in our latest power rankings.

Here's how the league stacks up:

1. Los Angeles Dodgers

Since the beginning of June, the Dodgers have posted an incredible 31-8 record and are currently in the midst of a nine-game win streak. Their rotation (11.5) and bullpen (4.9) both lead the league in WAR.

2. Houston Astros

The Astros get bumped to second for the first time since May, but it's more about how great the Dodgers have been. Dallas Keuchel should be back soon, with the ace making a rehab start on Monday.

3. Washington Nationals

The Nationals got the bullpen help they so desperately needed in the form of Ryan Madson and Sean Doolittle from Oakland. With Trea Turner sidelined, Daniel Murphy has been on fire since the beginning of July, recording 17 hits in 10 games, including five multi-hit performances.

4. Milwaukee Brewers

Milwaukee is rewarded here for its stellar and consistent play. Holding off the suddenly hot Cubs will pose a challenge, but with the Brewers expected to buy ahead of the deadline, it's probably time to stop counting them out.

5. Boston Red Sox

Panda Watch is no more, as the Red Sox finally cut ties with free-agent bust Pablo Sandoval after two-plus seasons. If only the club had decided to keep Travis Shaw, who's been mashing in Milwaukee.

6. Arizona Diamondbacks

The D-Backs have lost five straight and drop three spots after entering the top five a week ago. The club needs to improve on the road, as it's posted a 20-24 record away from Chase Field.

7. Cleveland Indians

Everyone keeps waiting for Cleveland to surge, but it hasn't happened. Instead, a four-game losing streak has allowed the Twins to sit just 1 1/2 games behind in the standings. The Indians need to make a statement similar to the Cubs by acquiring a starting pitcher.

8. Tampa Bay Rays

About a month ago, Red Sox fans looked in their rear-view mirror and saw the Rays way off in the distance. Suddenly, Tampa Bay is hot on their tail and can almost smell first place.

9. Chicago Cubs

Jose Quintana's debut on the North Side of Chicago couldn't have gone any better. His 12-strikeout performance helped the Cubs sweep the Orioles, and don't look now, but the reigning World Series champions are back above .500.

10. Colorado Rockies

A 6-15 record since June 21 has the Rockies scuffling, but second place in the NL West remains up for grabs. The club returns to Coors Field for a six-game homestand against the Padres and Pirates this week - a great opportunity to pick up some ground.

11. New York Yankees

The Yankees fall out of the top 10 for the first time since April, in large part due to a pair of struggling pitchers. Michael Pineda has joined Masahiro Tanaka as the second Yankees starter with a partially torn UCL, though it appears likely the former opts for surgery.

12. Texas Rangers

For all their well-documented struggles early, the Rangers ended up right back in the wild-card chase and now sit just 2 1/2 games out of the second spot.

13. Minnesota Twins

Thanks to an overall disappointing AL Central, the Twins are still in the race for first place. Thanks to Beyonce, though, they're not even the hottest twins in the news.

14. Seattle Mariners

Robinson Cano won the All-Star Game MVP award, and the Mariners came out of the break with a three-game sweep of the White Sox. Up next, though, are three on the road against the red-hot Astros.

15. Kansas City Royals

The Royals were one of the hottest teams in June when they went 17-9. They've cooled off in July, though, losing five straight before edging out Texas on Sunday.

16. Los Angeles Angels

The return of Mike Trout was a massive boost to the Angels' postseason hopes. Those wild-cards spot aren't out of reach, yet.

17. St. Louis Cardinals

Unlike their hated rival in Chicago, St. Louis just can't seem to crack .500. The Cardinals may have to act on that reported interest in Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson before it's too late.

18. Atlanta Braves

The Braves' newest third baseman might be one of the best hitters on the team, and no, it's not Freddie Freeman. Johan Camargo is slashing .333/.359/.505 and has already accumulated 0.9 WAR through the first 42 games of his career.

19. Pittsburgh Pirates

After a crazy offseason, it seemed amazing that the Pirates held onto star outfielder Andrew McCutchen. Now, over the last two weeks, McCutchen has slashed .389/.463/.750 while patrolling his old stomping grounds in center field.

20. Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays had a shot to get themselves out of last place for the first time all season. Instead, they dropped their weekend rubber match to the Tigers with a walk-off walk.

21. New York Mets

If you're trying to predict how the rest of the Mets' season will unfold, just stop right now. In fact, as you read that last sentence they alternated between would-be contenders and sure sellers about six different times.

22. Detroit Tigers

After reportedly offering Kyle Schwarber to the Tigers for Michael Fulmer or Daniel Norris, the Cubs got Jose Quintana from another AL Central team. Unfortunately for Detroit, that likely benefits the Indians and Twins more.

23. Baltimore Orioles

Man, did the Orioles fall off a cliff. Early in the season, it looked like no one could slow down Baltimore. Now, the team is reportedly preparing to sell off its biggest names as it gears up for a small rebuild.

24. Oakland Athletics

The Athletics are apparently among the front-runners to sign recent Yankees outcast Chris Carter, who plays the same position as trade candidate Yonder Alonso. So, you know, pack them bags.

25. Chicago White Sox

Considered a top executive before being promoted to GM, Rick Hahn has led the White Sox through mediocrity. Now though, the team has the best farm system in baseball after swapping Quintana for two more top-100 prospects.

26. Miami Marlins

Now that the All-Star Game is over, the Marlins will generate one main storyline for the remainder of the season: How many on-field assets can they sell before the actual franchise gets sold?

27. Cincinnati Reds

It came down to the last possible moment, but the Reds agreed to a record-breaking deal with second overall pick Hunter Greene. Now, the unfair expectations for the 17-year-old can officially begin.

28. San Diego Padres

The Padres' climb up the power rankings has been slow and gradual, but has existed nonetheless. Unfortunately, it's been more of a credit to how horrendous the Giants and Phillies have been.

29. San Francisco Giants

The Giants are beyond miserable. Their demise from even-year dominance has been unprecedented and precipitous, as if the Cubs winning for the first time in 108 years somehow broke the universe. One can only assume.

30. Philadelphia Phillies

It's not very often that a 100-loss season seems inevitable by the All-Star break, but the Phillies seem poised. Even Aaron Nola's last three starts - in which he allowed just four runs over 21 innings - yielded a 1-2 record for the team. Yikes.
