Florida head coach Jim McElwain told reporters Tuesday that quarterback Luke Del Rio will have surgery on his right throwing shoulder Wednesday, according to Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times.

Del Rio had surgery on his left shoulder last offseason, though this one isn't expected to keep the former starter out long.

"He'll be fine. It's not major," McElwain said, adding that the procedure's intent is to clean up a previous injury.

In six games last year, Del Rio threw for 1,358 yards, eight touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He missed seven games - two due to a knee injury and seven due to the shoulder injury.

Redshirt freshmen quarterbacks Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask will try to make a run at his spot in spring camp.
