Memphis has reeled in its first four-star recruit of the 2016 class, as defensive end John Tate announced his commitment to the Tigers on Sunday.
Tate, a Pine Bluff, Ark., product picked Memphis over scholarship offers from Arizona State, Houston, and Louisville, among other programs.
The 6-foot-4, 258-pounder immediately becomes Mike Norvell's most prized prospect since taking over as the Tigers' head coach in December.
