Star RB Martinez transferring to Miami
Former Oregon State running back Damien Martinez is transferring to Miami, his agent told ESPN's Adam Rittenberg.
Martinez earned first-team All-Pac-12 berths in each of the last two seasons. The 2022 Offensive Freshman of the Year set career highs with 1,185 rushing yards (6.1 per carry) and nine touchdowns in 2023.
He was reportedly set to make more than $400,000 to play at Oregon State in 2024. The Beavers recently made a coaching change, making Trent Bray their head coach to replace Jonathan Smith, who took the Michigan State job in November.
Landing Martinez - arguably the top player available in the transfer portal - is a major pickup for Miami. He also generated interest from Arizona, Tennessee, Mississippi State, and Kentucky, among other programs.
