Clancy Pendergast is officially coming back to USC.
The Trojans announced Monday that Pendergast will return to Southern California to serve as defensive coordinator, a position he held in 2013.
In his one-year stint with the defensive unit, USC boasted the top red-zone defense in the country and ranked 13th in overall total defense. His squad also tallied 91 tackles for loss, 17 interceptions, and 34 sacks.
For the past two seasons, Pendergast served as the San Francisco 49ers linebackers coach.
